was founded in 1986 as a commercial mortgage banking firm. Since
that time, we have expanded our commercial real estate services
to include investment advisory services, seller and buyer
representative services, and management of our clients’ real
estate investments.
Although
our services have changed, one thing has not. And that is our
commitment to the highest level of professional attention to our
clients’ needs. Our reputation and our focus for every client
engagement are centered on our desire to help each and every
client be successful. This means our experienced staff

Since graduating from Wake Forest University, Lee practiced public accounting for over
twenty years and later served as CFO for a very successful publicly traded
company. Later, Lee joined Shields in 1991 and is now President and majority
owner. At Shields Lee has been able to continue his passion for helping others
succeed by sharing his experience and analytical skills. Lee is a licensed CPA,
NC real estate broker and registered investment advisor.

Susan has skillfully blended her skills and experience in
marketing, finance, and business ownership to become Shield’s
leading project originator and manager. Susan knows from her own
experience what it takes to succeed and incorporates those
skills and passion into every client engagement. Susan graduated
from East Carolina University and also holds a Certificate in
Nonprofit Management from Duke University.
